Free 4 All
- An exciting new outreach initiative of Crossroads Christian
Communications,
set to show God's loves in practical ways to those in need of a little
help. The plan is to celebrate in 12 cities across Canada over the next
3 years! Local area churches, in cooperation with
The Crossroads Family of Ministries, (who produce the daily 100
Huntley Street) are leading these events. Thousands of volunteers
from the participating cities,
along with corporate participation, will ensure the success of these
celebrations that will personally touch the hearts of over 120,000
people in loving, tangible ways.

Habitat For Humanity
- Halifax-Dartmouth - In 1976, Habitat
For Humanity
International (HFHI) was founded by Millard and Linda Fuller. This
organization strives to end
poverty housing worldwide. An ecumenical Christian housing ministry,
Habitat For Humanity works in partnership with people in need to build
simple, decent houses. The houses are sold to partner families at no
profit, with zero-interest loans. Since the establishment of the
Habitat for Humanity Halifax-Dartmouth Affiliate in 1992, this
sub-branch has 15 Habitat Homes in the Halifax Regional Municipality,
which house over 60 men, women and children. Their biggest
accomplishment to date was hosting the Ed Schreyer Work Project in
1999, when 10 houses were built in 5 days with the help of over 1000
volunteers from around the world. In 2000, the Province of Nova Scotia
presented Habitat for Humanity Halifax-Dartmouth with the Nova Scotia
Home Award.
Sharing Compassion - In 1952,
evangelist
Rev. Everett Swanson preached in Korea. Upon learning of the desperate
situation of the Korean War orphans, Swanson established a program
which made it possible for caring Christians to sponsor needy children
for a few dollars a month. Swanson's efforts lead to Compassion, an
organization that is child-focused, Christ-centred, and church-based.
Today, Compassion still works to release children from poverty, in
Jesus' name and help them become fulfilled Christian adults.

difference
in peoples' lives. Among these efforts are: The
Lazarus Project which rescues young homeless boys from the streets
of Zambia and provides them with a loving home life. The Project
educates and trains these
boys in a trade. They develop character and a
spiritual
transformation, which helps them to become polite, mature young

rehabilitation
and reintegration efforts of the people
of South Sudan; The
Emergency Response & Development Fund of Crossroads Christian
Communications

caused
by natural disaster, war, and poverty in the developing countries of
the

more.
The Conway School of Broadcasting:

The
Breast Cancer Site: 43,300 women die each year from breast cancer -
that is someone's mother, sister, aunt, niece, grandmother,
granddaughter,
cousin, and friend, who loses their life every 12 minutes. Every click
at The Breast Cancer Site helps fund a mammogram, making early
detection
possible for a woman in need. Early detection is the key to survival of
breast cancer, but the site is not getting enough clicks to meet their
quota for being able to donate at least one free mammogram per day to
an
underprivileged woman. It takes less than a minute to go to their site
& click on "donating a mammogram" for free. Their corporate
sponsors/advertisers
use the number of daily clicks to donate a mammogram, in exchange for
advertising.
Please visit their site and let others know as well. Join the Chain of
Hope, and help save lives.

What
can one person do? Here's
what:
Make a donation to any of these
organizations. Small or
bigger - it all helps.
Tell others about these organizations.
Volunteer at any of these organizations - either
regularly, or with special events.
Tell others about this web site.
Think of some creative ways which you can
help.
Encourage others to do wikewise.
These days, many
think of "religious
matters"
as mere rituals - where nothing "real" ever happens, or gets done.
These organizations prove otherwise - in very big, and many ways.
